Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, reviewed with Ms. Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing Fund and Real Estate Finance Support, the performance indicators of the presidential program “Housing for All Egyptians” and the status of implementing housing units for low- and middle-income citizens, stressing that the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stress the need to accelerate the implementation rates of housing units and deliver them to their beneficiaries. The Minister of Housing pointed out that the direct cost of establishing the housing units offered by the Social Housing Fund and Real Estate Finance Support since 2014 amounted to 161 billion pounds, adding that the citizen who benefits from a housing unit receives two forms of support, the first of which is direct support, which is direct cash support, the value of which amounted to 9.5 billion pounds, while the second form of support is indirect support, through support for the return on real estate financing, which is disbursed by the Fund and the Ministry of Finance, and its value amounted to 11.5 billion pounds, and support for the implementation of facilities, the average value of which was and is expected to be disbursed for one million housing units, amounted to about 25 billion pounds, in addition to support for the average share of the unit of land, with an estimated value of 37 billion pounds. The Minister stressed the need to continue immediate and accurate follow-up of the various performance indicators, and to ensure overcoming all difficulties facing the implementation of the units of the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” for low- and middle-income citizens, with the aim of delivering the housing units to the beneficiary citizens on the dates set for that in the terms of reference, stressing the importance of the Fund continuing to meet the demand for housing within the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” in implementation of the directives of the political leadership.
Ms. Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Real Estate Finance Fund, explained that the Fund seeks to continue offering housing units within the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” for low- and middle-income citizens on a regular basis, as 17 advertisements have been offered so far since 6/1/2014, with 1.6 million citizens applying to reserve them, with a total of one million housing units offered, explaining that this turnout confirms citizens’ confidence in the Fund and the projects it offers.
The CEO of the Social Housing and Real Estate Finance Fund indicated that 27,944 housing units are currently being implemented in the middle-income axis for middle-income citizens who applied in previous announcements, while 248,009 housing units are being implemented, and 68,048 other units have been offered in the low-income axis, in addition to 684,251 housing units that have been completed, with a total number of housing units exceeding one million housing units for low-income people so far.
