The Administrative Control Authority has succeeded in arresting the head of one of the new cities' authorities for receiving bribes from contracting companies implementing projects within his authority's scope in order to ignore their violations.
The Administrative Control Authority said in a statement on Facebook: "Within the framework of the permanent directives of the President of the Republic to follow up on the system of implementing state projects across the Republic and achieving governance of procedures and ensuring the quality of implementation, the Administrative Control Authority was able to arrest the head of one of the new cities' authorities for colluding with some contractors assigned to implement projects within his supervision and ignoring violations of receiving the implemented work from them, and receiving financial bribes estimated at about three million pounds."
The statement added: "Upon presentation to the Attorney General, he issued a decision to arrest the accused, and they were arrested and referred to the competent prosecution. In coordination with officials from the Ministry of Housing, the disbursement of the value of the violating works was stopped and a committee was formed to review the works assigned to those companies and confirm the quality of implementation in the field."
