Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, inspected the progress of work at the new eco-lodge and the heritage town, as part of the project to develop the site of the Greatest Transfiguration on the Land of Peace in St. Catherine, accompanied by officials from the ministry, the Central Agency for Reconstruction, the project consultant, and the contracting companies working on the project.
The Minister of Housing and his companions toured the new eco-lodge "Extension" in the Wadi Al-Raha area, covering an area of 39,500 m2, consisting of 7 buildings with a total of (192 eco-hotel rooms and 56 eco-hotel suites), in addition to establishing a desert garden along the mountainside, linking the new eco-lodge to the mountain hotel, and establishing a walkway (Moses' Path) to simulate the historical path of our master Moses through Wadi Al-Raha to Mount Al-Tajali, in addition to developing 74 chalets in the existing eco-lodge.
The Minister also inspected the development works of the Heritage Town Center, which include developing and expanding the existing Al Wadi Al Muqaddas Mosque to become 1,350 m2 (3 times its area), developing the existing shops in the city center, providing parking for tourist buses and cars to serve the area, linking pedestrian paths between the Heritage Town and Wadi Al Arbaeen, implementing roads that serve the city center and the surrounding areas, in addition to adding a commercial building (14 shops) to maximize the economic benefit from the city center, and providing it with shaded walkways to serve the tourist and recreational movement in the city center, in addition to adding squares, seating areas and services, and an artificial lake to maximize the tourist benefit from the area.
